An Original Who Put a New Spin on Imitation: MOMA exhibits the works of the late TC alumna Elaine Sturtevant
As reported in , "Sturtevant: Double Trouble,” a retrospective on the work of Elaine Sturtevant (M.A. '75), has opened the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and will run through February 22, 2015. Sturtevant, , was known as "the mother of appropriation art" for her "replications" that subtly commented on paintings by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Keith Haring and others. "Sturtevant: Double Trouble" will also appear at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles from March 21 to July 27.
